Internships

We offer full and part-time, unpaid internships for college students and young professionals who are passionate about film and interested in developing hands-on experience in festival and event management. We have a small number of internships available year-round while our MSPIFF focused internships begin as early as January and complete after the festival in May.

MSPIFF Interns will preferably have broad flexibility during the festival and must be able to commit to mornings, evenings and weekend hours. Applicants must have a working personal laptop that can be used during the internship.

YEAR-ROUND INTERNSHIP POSITIONS

Multimedia Assistant
Positions available: 2
Description: The Multimedia Assistant will work with the Content Manager to assist with graphic design for print and web, as well as website content upkeep. The intern helps to maintain the Film Society’s digital communications tools including the website, email marketing, customer relations management system, and more. On any given day, the Multimedia Assistant may find themselves creating or updating web pages on mspfilm.org, building targeted email newsletters to send to thousands of subscribers, or finding new strategies to connect the Film Society with our audiences around the globe.

Must be detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills, and competent in Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator (Adobe CS 5.5 or later). Basic familiarity with HTML, CSS preferred. Familiarity with Google Analytics and UTM tagging, WordPress or similar content management systems preferred. Familiarity with Google Drive and Airtable is a plus.


Animation/Motion Graphics Intern
Positions available: 1-2
Description: Work alongside the Content Manager, Multimedia & Outreach Coordinator and Programming Manager to create engaging content to display on screen in the theatre and on the web. You’ll be creating trailers, slideshows, bumpers and other promotional assets, maintaining MSP Film identity and branding, to keep our audience informed.

Must be able to follow directions and complete tasks independently. Experience with Adobe Premiere and After Effects preferred, having a laptop with Adobe CC is a plus, but not necessary.


Video Intern
Positions available: 1-2
Description: Work under the supervision of the Content Manager and Business Manager to create exciting and informative trailers highlighting MSP Film’s various Programs as well as trailers highlighting upcoming New Releases. Work under the Programming Director to develop and maintain weekly on-screen reel. Coordinate the shooting, editing, and delivery of new video content to be used on screen and on social media as needed. Enthusiasm, professional communication and strong organizational skills with an attention to detail is a must.

Must be able to follow directions and complete tasks independently. Experience with Adobe Premiere and After Effects preferred, having a laptop with Adobe CC is a plus, but not necessary.


Publicity & Outreach Intern
Positions available: 1-2
Description: This candidate will work closely with our Publicity Manager and Outreach & Multimedia Coordinator to maximize and expand the Film Society’s reach and engagement for all programming. Track and submit events and programming to press and organizational event calendars across the Twin Cities. Assist in the creation and distribution of Outreach materials, such as flyers, both onsite and, through the volunteer Street Team, around the Twin Cities. Assist in updating and adding to MSP Film’s Outreach database & digital mailing list in Airtable and Constant Contact CRM. Other duties as assigned.

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to follow directions and complete tasks independently is a must. Experience with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop preferred, having a laptop with Adobe CC is a plus, but not necessary.
