Monk With a Camera
The son of an American ambassador and grandson of Diana Vreeland (former chief editor of Vogue), Nicholas Vreeland walked away from a worldly life of privilege to become a monk. Although he considered becoming a photographer, apprenticing to Richard Avedon and Irving Penn, a chance meeting with Khyongla Rinpoche, a reincarnate Tibetan lama, sent him on a different path. Eventually, however, his eclectic interests would come full circle. This documentary, from the team who brought you Chris & Don: A Love Story, perfectly captures the essence of Nicholas spiritual quest, merging East and West with 21st century ingenuity.
