Director and screenwriter Carlos Cuarón gives a dramatic touch to this story of young first love in Mexico City. Stuck in a dysfunctional household and a corrupt and violent setting, 13-year-old Nacho finds little support or compassion in the people around him. And then he meets Mayra, the daughter of La Diabla, leader of the street market venders. Together they find fast friendship and a bond that helps them see beyond their personal troubles. Cuarón's second feature lights up the screen with the nuanced performances of young Cesar Kancino as Nacho and Daniela Arce as Mayra.
