Aki

Dir. Darlene Naponse
83 min

In Darlene Naponse’s nearly wordless documentary, Aki, she captures the beauty of Atikameksheng Anishnawbek, her home in Northern Ontario. Patiently, she shoots through the seasons the natural world, the sounds of the forest and her community, and manages, in this quiet film, to explore the generations of people and wildlife that live there. Aki is immersive, poetic, and set to the spectacular soundtrack of Juno Award-nominated cellist Cris Derkson (North Tallcree).
