ABOUT THE FILM

Director Walter Salles' profoundly moving tale of the human spirit, featuring an unforgettable lead performance by Fernanda Montenegro (also featured in this year's Opening Film I'm Still Here). Inside Rio de Janeiro's bustling Central Station, two very unlikely souls become inextricably linked. When a young boy (Vinicius de Oliveira) witnesses his mother's accidental death, a retired school teacher reluctantly takes the child under her wing. Although initially distrustful of each other, the two form an uncommon bond as they venture from the bustling city to Brazil's remote northeast region in search of the boy's father.

PRESENTED BY MSP FILM SOCIETY

Cine Latino returns October 9-13 to The Main Cinema for five days of Spanish and Portuguese language films, special guests, fiestas, food trucks, and more! The 12th annual celebration of the best Latin American, US Latinx, and Ibero Cinema pays homage to the longstanding film industries throughout the Spanish and Portuguese speaking diaspora by showcasing the diversity of their inhabitants, the immense beauty of their geographies, and the magic of their many cultures through the power of film.
