When her husband suffers a debilitating accident, Amreen is forced to find some way to earn money. Wearing a hijab, it’s almost impossible to find employment, until she lands a gig cooking and cleaning for a vegan couple. Although she finds some success—and independence—as a cook for hire, her husband and his extended family aren't happy about her unorthodox choices.
Tannishtha Chatterjee’s Full Plate is a beautiful, funny and warm look at the challenges of being a Muslim in India, not to mention a love letter to the joy of cooking.
