When melancholic construction worker Dan finds himself drifting from his wife and daughter, he unwittingly joins a local theater’s production of Romeo and Juliet, where he discovers community and purpose. As the drama onstage starts to mirror his own life, he and his family are forced to confront a personal loss.

Dan’s not the counseling type, but as it turns out, he’s the amateur theater type. When he joins a neighborhood production of Romeo and Juliet, he discovers a side of himself that’s long hidden. Filmmakers Kelly O'Sullivan and Alex Thompson are both artistic and life partners, and here direct a real-life acting family who embody the family in Ghostlight – actors Keith Kupferer (Dan), Tara Mallen (Dan’s wife, Sharon) and their daughter, Katherine Mallen Kupferer (Daisy). The result is a droll and moving portrait of resilience, love, and the healing power of theater.
