ABOUT THE FILM

From Cannes-winning directors Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi — known together as Los Javis — La Bola Negra follows three generations of men across pivotal moments in Spanish history, bound by pain, desire, and love. Carlos (Milo Quifes) longs to belong in a fractured Spain. Sebastián (Guitarricadelafuente) finds connection across enemy lines. And Alberto (Carlos González) uncovers a long-buried family secret — one that finally gives voice to truths the past tried to erase. Co-written by Calvo, Ambrossi, and Alberto Conejero, and adapted from Conejero's play La Piedra Oscura and La bola negra, and other texts by Federico García Lorca. The film also stars Miguel Bernardeau (Rafael), Goya winner Lola Dueñas (Teresa), Academy Award winner Penélope Cruz (Nené), Golden Globe winner Glenn Close (Isabelle), and Emmy-nominated Julio Torres (Juan Pablo).

De los directores galardonados en Cannes Javier Calvo y Javier Ambrossi —conocidos como «Los Javis»—, La Bola Negra sigue a tres generaciones de hombres a través de momentos cruciales de la historia de España, unidos por el dolor, el deseo y el amor. Carlos (Milo Quifes) anhela encontrar su lugar en una España fracturada. Sebastián (Guitarricadelafuente) establece un vínculo más allá de las líneas enemigas. Y Alberto (Carlos González) descubre un secreto familiar guardado por años: uno que finalmente da voz a verdades que el pasado intentó borrar. El guión escrito por Calvo, Ambrossi y Alberto Conejero, y adaptada a partir de la obra teatral de Conejero La piedra oscura, la película cuenta también en su reparto con Miguel Bernardeau (Rafael), Lola Dueñas (Teresa, ganadora del Goya), Penélope Cruz (Nené, ganadora del Óscar), Glenn Close (Isabelle, ganadora del Globo de Oro) y Julio Torres (Juan Pablo, nominado al Emmy).
