While her father is dying of cancer and her mother is busy working fulltime, independent 11-year-old Fuki is left on her own. Her imagination never fails her, and she begins to write stories, to obsess over telepathy and to explore the world in precarious ways. The sophomore feature from director Chie Hayakawa, set in 1980s Japan, is at once beautiful, warm and heartbreaking.
