Seven years after a fatal car crash separated them, lovers Baoshu and Meiyun meet again. Baoshu accepted the blame for the crash and did time in prison, while Meiyun, burdened with guilt, has struggled to rebuild her life from the ground up. With Baoshu back, they must both confront their guilt and anger as well as their unresolved bond to each other. But will they be able to shake off their past, and do they really want to? Cai Shangjun’s wonderfully melodramatic feature was a surprise hit at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival.
