Meeting with Pol Pot

Meeting with Pol Pot
In 1978, three French reporters enter Cambodia at the invitation of the Khmer Rouge to interview Pol Pot, the leader of the Cambodian genocide. The regime is hopeful that the interview will help international relations, but the trio finds itself stumbling down a rabbit hole of misinformation and outright lies, in Oscar-nominated director Rithy Panh’s acclaimed new feature.
Based on a true story, Meeting with Pol Pot sees fictional journalists Lisa Delbo, Alain Cariou and Paul Thomas enter the very secretive world of Pol Pot’s handlers. Each comes with their own unique experiences–Lisa has a vast knowledge of Communism in all its forms; Alain’s experience in Cambodia serves him well; and Paul covered the vast chaos of the Vietnam war. But they’re no match for the regime’s slippery tactics, and as they physically go deeper and deeper into the jungle and metaphorically into the quagmire of disinformation and paranoia, they find themselves barely able to grasp reality.
