Maria Bamford and Director Neil Berkeley Attending
Minnesota-raised comedian Maria Bamford, whose unflinching stories about her mental health struggles have made her a comedy legend, shines in Judd Apatow and Neil Berkeley’s documentary. Starting with her childhood in Duluth and moving through to her success as a comedian in Los Angeles, and all her struggles in between, Paralyzed by Hope is a rich look at one of comedy’s most revered performers and fascinating personalities.
Following the Opening Night presentations of Everybody to Kenmure Street and Paralyzed by Hope: The Maria Bamford Story, the Brass Messengers Band and Pollinator Frenzy dancers will lead guests in a lively march down Main Street from The Main Cinema to the A-Mill for a festive kickoff to MSPIFF’s 45th anniversary. There will be drinks, food, and special guests including music from D.J. Jacque, and local artist Edson Rosas who will be screenprinting—bring clothes/fabric to print on!
